So you are trying to install the homebrew channel?

And if you are I guess you are trying to use bannerbomb with the hackmii installer?

Did you rename installer.elf to boot.elf?

You have to use your computer.
Most computers have a card reader. Or if not, there are external card readers.

If the instructions at the site you posted aren't clear you can follow the guide at http://wiibrew.org/wiki/BaNNeRBoMB for the bannerbomb portion of what you are doing.

Did you put anything on the SD card?
I find it strange that you would try to load the boot.elf in your Wii if you didn't know how to put it on there in the first place.

But when you connect the card reader to your computer and you put the sd card in the card reader you should just go to the place where all of your drives are listed.
The card reader should be there as well. You can click into it and add stuff.

Things have to be in the proper place on your SD card. It's not just put everything in one giant folder and then drag it to your SD card.

According to here http://wiibrew.org/wiki/BaNNeRBoMB
If this is a new SD card with no Wii stuff on it then you don't have to do the renaming your original private folder to privateold.

When you download and extract Bannerbomb you will get a folder called private.

You can just drag this folder to the root of your SD card. The root is where you go to as soon as you click your SD card. So if you click into your SD card the first place you will be at will be the root. This is where you should put the private folder.

When you download and extract the Hackmii Installer you should get a folder called hackmii_installer_beta2
Inside this folder are 4 things: CREDITS, installer.elf, LICENSE, and README.

All you need is installer.elf
You rename installer.elf to boot.elf as you said you already did and place boot.elf in the root of your SD card. Don't put it inside the private folder.
When you click into your SD card you should see boot.elf and the private folder as well.

There are also other variations of Bannerbomb at the Bannerbomb website: http://bannerbomb.qoid.us/
You can try the others ones if the first one doesn't work for you.

Shouldn't make a difference.
Mine is too.

I had to edit my post because Afterdawn is so restrictive.
Can't post twice within 30 seconds.

Most apps won't be installed to the Wii. They will just be on your SD card.

You will make a folder in the root of your SD card called Apps.

Most homebrew programs come in a folder with
a dol file (which the actual program)
a icon.png file (a picture to display in the homebrew channel)
a meta.xml (data about the program that is also displayed in the homebrew channel)

You put this folder inside your apps folder.

You can practice with the Homebrew Browser. Which will actually allow you to download apps straight to your Wii.

You can get it from here http://www.codemii.com/download/

Once you extract you will see a folder called homebrew_browser
You put this folder in your Apps folder. You should see the Homebrew Browser when you launch the Homebrew Channel.

Notice that inside of the homebrew_browser folder is the boot.dol, icon.png, and meta.xml

All apps originally named whatever.dol need to be renamed to boot.dol for you to be able to see them in the Homebrew Channel.
