AVIs with subtitle files to DVD: HOW TO?

I have an AVI file that has an associated .srt subtitle file associated with it.

I have software to allow me to convert AVI to DVD files (vob) or MPG files but there doesn't seem to be a way to incorporate the srt file so that it becomes a DVD subtitle file.

How can I combine the SRT file so that it will be come part of the DVD file structure?

DVD Flick is free and will do: http://beginwithsoftware.com/videoguides/dvd-flick-guide.html (this guide show's its feature's) or ConvertXtoDVD (not free) support's sub's or if you want to hardcode them to the avi, this work's great for me: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/adding_subs_to_avi.cfm
