Is everyone too lazy to read the other thread names or search for what they're looking for or is it a constant thread of pm sent on all threads??

Fegus or anyone out there can you help out an old guy?
I have the USB memory stick ready for action, do I need a program to download the fix? Could you possibly tell me exactly what I need to do, I have read your instructions regarding the next steps after that I'm just slightly confused as to what I need to download onto the stick, do I have to open up stuff before I put it on the stick etc....?? sorry for being a slow old fart.
Thanks

To load the files just drag them on to a memory stick and then make sure box id powered off put the memory stick in the USB port
at the back of the receiver. Then press the menu button on the remote there you will see USB
at the bottom of the screen. Just highlight USB with the remote then you will see the
(Box Super USB Bin file) appear on the screen. Highlight the Box Super USB Bin File with the
remote and press th ok button then you will see the file start loading in to the Box.Do not touch the remote or the box for at least
30 seconds after the box has rebooted other wise you will end up with a dead box displaying 8882 on the display
After you have uploaded the software from your memory stick,
turn power back off then remove memory stick then follow below
? Plug the box in to the TV using the usual scart lead.
? Turn on the box, press menu and go to installation,
? Select correct provider i.e. N**, C/W or TW ch***s
? Then automatic scan
? Once the channels are found, exit back to the blank screen
? Press menu (ignore what is on the screen) and press 1 5 7 0, this takes you to a secret menu,
. press the set default key then
? Go down to K*y CODE and turn it on.
? Now exit and wait for it to store all the data.

if you are not in IRELAND, you dont need too use the new firmware, as the old works just fine in the UK
the only thing you have too do is , AUTOMATIC SCAN, the channels that dont work , will come back on,
as i am still using the old firmware on the starview 4 & starview 1 receivers

alot of people are only looking for a new firmware, because a few channels dont work, this happens all the time, it only needs a rescan , the only time you will need the new firmware is, when all the channels go off, & its in a loop, trying too update too clear the channel for viewing

My brother has a friend that has a Starview PVR - the model with the HD, but also has a USB port on the back. Can it be updated with the new firmware?
