did you do a factory reset when you put the bete firmware on? answer should be yes!
i think you should look at the cable wire itself check the cable connectors at each end and make sure none of the copper strands are touching the cable if they are the screw on type, you may have to open it to check, but be carefull
also now that you have pressed set default key, delete the channels 1 by 1 that are'nt working make sure you dont delete all of your channels, and then do a manuall scan

@ weemug there is a channel editor, but its a not really worth it, if you have to scan your box for say, chans moving, your chan line up will have to be done again, why dont you just create a fav list of what chans you mainly watch and save it, but once you factory re-set, its back to square one, much of a much, but just a suggestion
