Hi everyone
I'm sorry to ask here since it has been answered several times and there are loads of tutorials about it.However i can't solve the problem even though i tried all kind of stuff.
well i have a softmodded wii with 4.0 custom firmware. everything works fine (homebrew channels and the wad apps)however there's no way i can boot a back ups. i tried burning them with image burning at 4x and using Hp and Verbatin DVD-r but i didn't manage to make even a single one work.the official copies of my back ups work fine so it's not a lens problem.
someone suggested me to uninstall and install again cios.or installing dvdx wad.also to install cios fix.wad.or downgrading the ios with the application ios downgrader.however nothing changes.previously i had 3.2e custom firmware and someone suggested me to update to 4.0e. i did it but the problem is the same.could anyone help?please?i'd be really grateful
thanks guys

Usually 324 means you need to reinstall cIOS or that you went for a walk and saw a garbage can full of garbage DVDs and said to yourself Ooooh free DVDs! and proceeded to stock up.

If you already reinstalled cIOS which installers can be found here: http://www.teknoconsolas.es/blogs/waninkoko

4x speed using ImgBurn and using DVD-R (not DVD+R or DVD-RW) is definitely the way to go but if you're just using the same DVDs and it's just not working every time then I'm thinking that the DVDs are the problem and they usually are with 324.

Check out here: http://www.digitalfaq.com/reviews/dvd-media.htm

Verbatims usually are pretty reliable however it is not just the brand name that determines who the manufacturer of the DVD was which is what is important in determining quality.

Notice how it says that Verbatim discs manufactured by Mitsubishi are high quality but if you take a look below, Mitsubishi are not the only manufacturers of Verbatim's disc. CMC and Ritek are also listed. I don't think I have ever gotten a CMC disc to work with my Wii or PS2.

You should use DVD Identifier (you could also use ImgBurn) and see what the ManufactuerID is of the Verbatim discs that you use.

Sometimes it's a burner problem. I have access to 4 burners and sometimes my Wii can't read the disc by what I consider by worst burner but then I burn it in the exact same when using what I consider by best burner and all of a sudden it works.

By the way I always use Sony discs (16D1). Made in Malaysia and they have always worked for me. And yet Sony discs with cases that look almost exactly the same but were made in Taiwan haven't given me the same success rate as the ones made in Malaysia.

Check stuff out and see what works for you.

:)
It's why when people tell me they used Memorex discs I think to myself, hmm I wonder what they actually ended up with...

Could it be CMC? Ritek? Moser Baer? Mitsubishi? Prodisc? Ricoh? Infodisc?

I have tried burning games on some maxell's i had. nothing works so far. they were manufactured by ritek. same 324 error as the topic starter. so i am just gonna assume that it's the discs and that i didn't do somethign wrong during the install. it's frustrating though because from time to time the wii will read enough of the disc that it shows what game it is in the disc channel, just won't load at all.

I know that it sucks but if you really want to do it then you're just going to have to keep trying until it works for you.
For me on PS2 I went through quite a few discs until I knew what to do. I had no idea whether I was doing stuff right because nothing was showing. In all honesty it's really similar to fumbling around in the dark.

Did you try using DVD identifier.

Also notice that I said that in my experience that Sony discs made in Malaysia worked for me but those in Taiwan didn't. This is the kind of thing that you are dealing with here.
It does suck to spend money and waste discs though.

definitely like stumbling in the dark :) oh well, i think i may just get some verbatim's this week and try that. or better yet a usb drive. but at least until i get backups working i can enjoy some old games through the emulators, those work quite well.

I definitely know the feeling of having nothing to go by except it not working. There isn't any "well it was working before" or anything.

But yeah, since moving to the USB I really haven't gone back to the discs.

They load faster and are more convenient.
Only time I use the discs is for stuff that doesn't work with USB like Medal of Honor Heroes 2.

That was me. The same exact person that you just quoted...
:)
Unless you just read the text in the center of the screen alone...

It MIGHT be the exact same thing that you are using. Lots of discs look the same but aren't exactly the same.
And on my computer it also says that 0 space is used and 0 is available. That's the way it should be.

Here is a picture of what it says for me in DVD identifier when I identify a DVD that has worked for me.

Notice where it says Manufacturer ID it says Sony16D1

What does it say there for you?

And the way I burn discs?
It's as simple as Open ImgBurn

Select Write Image

Change the speed to 4x, select your iso, and then click burn

Exactly, see how the discs look exactly the same on the outside but mine says Sony16d1 and your says Ritek W01?

I just put another DVD in my drive. It looks exactly the same as the one as I posted above except it is DVD+R and instead of Sony16d1 it says SonyD21

The only thing you would install and uninstall would be cIOS.
I'm not saying to run out and buy more discs but I'm still not convinced that the media that you are using is the best for what you are trying to do.

Also put those through DVD Identifier and see what they say.

I have some TDK DVD+Rs that I've never tried to burn Wii games with.
Manufacturer ID: CMC MAG M01.

Although I have tried burning Wii games with these discs I definitely do remember that I have never had success burning any game with CMC discs. They play in my DVD player just fine however.

i know mine is a different brand name than yours, but they are also ritek's and they don't work for me. so you may have installed everything correctly and just need some different discs like i think i do :)
