kryptview starter setup

Hi
can someone give me some advice on kryptview models and the steps to set one up. I have a cable subscription already so is it just a matter of connecting it up and installing some firmwear via a null modem cable?
I beleive they are sold out everywhere and also wonder if there is any ETA for them?
