Weird, try spoofing it as a MS28. I've had one do that before.

Maybe try this. Either get the drive into 0800 mode via half tray power cycle or flash ix1.6 0800 dedicated firmware to it. Once your drive is recognized by Windows, try playing a audio CD with it or a DVD.

Since you are able to flash your drive, just download the dedicated 0800 ix1.6 firmware and flash that. Might have to power cycle after that but then check in Device Manager and you should see the PBDS VAD6038 drive.

Yeah, you don't need a DVD key for 0800 firmware. Now go ahead and power cycle the drive and see if device manager detects it.

Disconnect the power and then plug the power back in. Or if you have a connectivity kit with an on/off switch, shut it off and then turn it back on.

If it can't read media, it is the laser. I just tested my BenQ to make sure this would work and it read my DVD with all my pictures on it.

The HD67 is for Hitachi/Samsung. You will need a HOP-141B laser for the BenQ.

okay so i just got the replacement drive but i ahve an issue with my via chipset now. It has something to do with the drivers. I had to enable it to enter 0800 mode and it reinstalled drivers so then i deleted vsmraid.sys and now i start jungle flasher up and my drive doesn't show up and it freezes the computer. I must be missing a step. Someone shed some light on this issue please.
