the reason i ask is because my IMGBURN doesn't work anymore, i start it up get an error i uninstalled it reinstalled it twice, same thing, never get a chance to burn as it doesnt even load up. So i tried Clonecd but i cant get it to work without a burning error it stops at the layer break i use to use alcohol 120 to extract the image (from an already working backup) then just burn using imgburn but now its gone and Clonecd isn't as easy, it doesnt accept the mds or mdf files that alcohol 120 makes do i have to re-extract the game images on my PC using clonecd?

I've only used clonecd and imgburn. If you are having issues at the layer break are you sure you have a dual layer drive? We've seen people complain, then realize they don't actually have one.

need jtag help? Xbox 360 console repair? PM me or chat

I agree with guess you have to check if you have a Dual Layer drive and if it supports Dual Layers.

But he said that he had an already working backup, so, unless he got it from a friend, then I'm pretty sure he has a dual layer drive.

the media is not the issue i have dual layer verbatims as well as cheaper matrix dual layers ive burned before using IMGBURN to both discs, its not my first try. IMGburn stopped working on my computer so i need a new program to burn image files but most other programs it wont play on the 360 even if burned right, i still haven't tried Nero yet hopefully it wrks. The thing is i have mds files from alcohol 120% i use to just load them onto IMGBURN and it would burn alright and play on the 360 i tried loading the same files onto Clonecd i get an error, so i may need to re extract the image from my friends backup using clonecd not alcohol 120, oh yeah i do have a dual layer burner Pioneer 111D.

With CCD, just type up a .dvd file for the game. Also, I'm surprised no one suggested DVD Decrypter. After all, it is the "father" of imgburn.

just tried dvd decrypter another coaster, i think its the file format of the game image, dvd decrypter supports .mds but when i load it, i get an error that the file cannot be found by system even though the other file is in the same folder, alcohol 120% makes 2 media descriptor files one is a small kb one .mds the other is a .mdf which is 7.54 GB thats the game but if i burn that one like i did i get a mixed media dvd not playable on the xbox 360 ( its flashed right so 100% its not my xbox because it has 1.6 on it im sure it plays backups have played alot before. Ive tried changing the bigger mds file to .iso and the other smaller file to .dvd on clonecd but that doesnt work either. I guess im stuck, its just strange that imgburn worked then all of a sudden i get an error 00x00000005 or something like that i read that it has something to do with the ram memory or something i cant figure it out.

just open notepad type in "layerbreak" then the actual number of the layerbreak. then name it .dvd also if you use abgx it will do this for you and fix your iso if that was the issue
