Was looking at a local game store today and saw an External HD-DVD Drive for XBOX 360 for only $10. Now, I don't own any HD-DVD movies, but I would rather use it for my PC as an extra DVD drive, I searched around for these answers, but had no luck...
What type of media is the drive capable of reading? I expect it to read CD and DVD, but DL Media would be nice. Just seeing what it can read.
Do I have to install the drivers to read data? I'm not really worried about HD-DVD since it is a dead format, just normal data. Also, are the drivers Vista compatible?
Finally... Do I have to use it as a USB drive? I have had a external DVD Drive before and opened it up to see it was just an internal drive with USB converters.
Sorry for all the question, I searched around and didn't find them. Just want to make sure it does what I want it to do before I waste $10.
There is a driver installation required when connecting it to a PC. I'd assume Windows Update would pick that up for you and install it. I would also assume since it is a HD-DVD player, it could read other media... CD, DVD, DVD DL.
