I'm using Nero 6 with Sony DRX500ULX. Start from 2 days before, I cannot copy any DVD to DVD-R. But I can do it on DVD-RW. I've got the error message Power Calibration Error. I have check the disc in other computer and it works. I don't think it's the disc problem and the drive is working probably with other computer.

Do any one know what's the problem?

It's Nero's "Time of the month".

Thank goodness we CAN do to Nero what we can't do to our wives - Delete her !!

Reboot to make sure she's out of the house -

Now, every man's dream, go get yourself a fresh one :P)

Move her in, then reboot, that's to make sure just she comes in and doesn't bring her mother with her -

Oooohhh, if real life could be good - :D)

Ok hylauivy, I've helped you and we've had some fun - now, Don't even think about screwing around - delete your copy of this NOW like I'm deleting mine - my wife ever finds out I wrote this, I'll end up in the hospital and might very well spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair :-(

And - I'm swearing you to secrecy - a blood oath -
(It'll be a whole lot of my blood if this is ever seen publicly)

later :d)

Power Calibration is controlled by the recorder.

Before any write operation, all recorders must do a 15 step power
test to determine the optimum power for writing to the CD, this is
called "Optimum Power Calibraion"(OPC). And during the write, it continues
to do this test to get the best write throughout the whole CD, this
is called "Running Optimum Power Calibration" (ROPC)
This whole process is controlled by the recorder, though initiated
by programs such as Nero.
There is an area on the inner part of the CD for the test and test
data info to be stored. You can use this area up to 999 times.

So, when you get the "Power Calibration Error" or "Power Calibration
area full" error message, then the cause will be either poor media, or defective recorder.

FIRST:

1) Try another brand of CDR or CDRW media.

2) Some of these symptoms can also be caused by poor power or power fluctuations.
So try different power connectors, and for recorders, do not share power with
other devices. It needs it's own power connector.
If this occurs with an External, the power source in the chassis could be the cause,
take out and make into an internal as a test.

3) Try different configurations, such as taking the CDROM to the Primary IDE bus as Salve,
and have only the recorder connected to the Secondary IDE bus as Master.

4) Send the recorder in for Service.

Best Regards,

Craig

Power Calibration problems are caused by poor media and recording at high speed, I use 4x Media and record at that speed or lower have had no problems.

Have learned the hard way about recording cd and dvd media so adjust your speed lower than your max speed of your recorder or burner or until the calibration error goes away.
