i had 2 RROD'ed xbox 360's, one still had X clamps in and the other had the screw fix, the one with the X clamps came off RROD after we used this cheap paste and is now running fine, the other xbox 360 wont come off RROD, we used the same paste and it wont work, and we tryed another brand of cheap paste and that didnt work. reason we are using cheap paste is that is all you can get around here. so should i order in a bottle of arctic sliver? do you think that will fix my problem, both heat sinks and ram get really hot so the xbox must be working. do you think the arctic sliver paste would fix it? or down at staples i can get Antec 5 Sliver paste, would that be just as good as arctic sliver? thanks guys

Thermal paste only fixes this error in rare cases and that's if it's dryed up or used too much. What is the error code? Hold the sync button in and hit the eject button to pull the code. RROD has many different errors and don't all have the same fix.

you need to push it 4 times. 4=0 1=1 2=2 3=3
Example: 0102

the first flashing lights in your case 3 do not count. You can't have more than 4 digits. You'll know when it goes back to 3 red lights.

0021 This can be caused by two completely different things either:
A. DVD Drive Time out - Can be caused by problems with a firmware flash. This is also speculated to sometime be caused by a problem with the southbridge chipset on the motherboard based on how it connects to the DVD drive.
B. GPU error, generally caused by a poor connection to the mainboard (cold solder joints/bridged solder joints) See error 102 for more information

Probably not a bad drive then if that's the right error code. Are you sure it's 0021? Try xclamp

Xclamp=screw mod. You need a 6421 via card for it to see your drive. Again, if it works in another box, then it's probably your board. If it had the xclamp done at one time, time to reflow.

Might be your whole problem. Time for a new drive board. If you have soder skills you can try.

No. You can acutally just pull the board from the DVD drive and replace it. Of course it won't work in that XBox unless you have the keys from the orginial drive.

A reflow basically is a special machine that you can warm up and melt soder joints with. Generally in the CPU/GPU areas. Along with the memory chips and south bridge. This fills the broken points making your xbox work again.
