Wow, excellent read. Brought me back to my college days (it seems that we are about the same age). I went to an engineering school that also had comp sci. I worked as a TA in a lab with cats from all different majors. We we into MP3's when they first came on the scene. I remember staying late in the lab scouring for sites that hosted MP3's. allmp3s was one of them. Got my first Radiohead B-sides from that site. My last semester (Fall of 98) our department purchased a CD burner. Every day was Christmas after that!
Nice trip down memory lane! Congrats on your success and best wishes down the road!

been using afterdawn since 2003, i hope ill still be able to check in every once in a while till 2033.
i never took a computer class in my life aside from comp sci 101. from what i learned on this site i landed a job at a video encoding company and even almost got hired as a VOD technician at A&E networks.
