is there an overriding 4 digit pin code for a dreambox dm500 c.

Think you can find it somewhere in the config text files to reset password but I'm not certain. Why not re-flash with back-up image, if you have not got backup, just reflash with fresh image and insert the magic files again and you will be sorted!
