If i have a Wii with the latest firmware will i still be able to install a modchip and play backups? also what's the best modchip?

you can install a modchip regardless what firmware version you are running but why modchip when softmod will do?

I thought a softmod wouldn't work if i had the latest firmware.I also thought future games would require a firmware update that would stop my softmod from working

You can now softmod a wii with V4.0 firmware, there is a guide on how to do it at the top of this forum.

Also i personally feel its better to mod the wii with an actual modchip by installing one inside (you can get a solderless modchip to install if you are not confident at soldering) as you can brick your wii softmodding it.
