Hi,

I was wondering what the drawbacks of softmodding my wii would be?

I know that I should not apply updates and should leave wiconnect off, but can I still play games online, use the wii shop, and mii channel after I soft mod my wii?

I don't think there's any draw back if the hack is done properly. The only thing i could think of is "warranty" big N might not cover it if you brick your Wii.

So yes to all your questions, online gaming, Wii shop, and Mii channel. For Wii shop you need to be with the latest software. You can leave wii connect on.
