I have a chipped Japanese wii, which I can technically play games from any region legit or copied. I bought a proper Pal version of the EA Sports, intially it updated my system. But after the game's home page, all i get in a blank screen and the wii becomes unresponsive.

Is there a way around this?

Wait, you have a Japanese Wii and updated your system with a Pal disk? That should pretty much brick it as far as I know... can you play any other game? It might not be a full update on the disk...

You have bricked your wii mate, sounds like you will need to send it back to Nintendo for repair.

For future reference its best to BrickBlock games outside your wii's region to prevent bricking the wii with a game update from a different region or just play the games that are the same region as your wii.

Before a response I would like to guess that f4rz's Wii is not bricked.

Just a test for me to see how well I interpret what others are trying to say.

I've also been curious about EA Sports Active's update for a while now.

Hmm...does the wii become responsive after a reboot etc?

This doesn't appear to be a message from someone panicking about their Wii not working so I guess its just this game that goes to black screen which suggests possibly firmware is out of date or its a dodgy disc.

As it seems disc is genuine from your comment perhaps updating the chips firmware may solve your issues.

NTSC-J system + PAL game update + functioning channels = semi brick.

NTSC-J system + PAL game update + opera screen = full brick.

ps2: v7 scph-39001 - independence exploit - hdloader 0.8c - maxtor 300gb hdd
(+[__]%) psp slim ta-085v1: 6.60 PRO B10
wii (powered by bootmii/priiloader): 4.1u - d2x v10beta53-alt (base 56) - configurable usb loader v70r51/devolution r188 - wd scorpio black 7200rpm 320gig w/ ams venus ds2 enclosure

got a whole lot more to list . . .

I haven't bricked the system, I know when I orginally got the wii and tried to play the US version of Mario Kart, that semi-bricked the system after updated (which I managed to sort out).

All other games play, but truthfully I don't have that many games just the US version ones I got given with the Wii. I've only managed to copy wii fit and NFS (think they are PAL), which work on the wii. The rest of the games I copied load but hang after their start up page (just like EA sports active now). I thought maybe it was my burning process but EA sports active is bought out a shop.

Once the screen hangs and goes black, only pulling out the power cord and then turning the wii back on makes it responsive.

I'm going through the exact same problem right now. I called EA Games and Nintendo on it and their answer at both sites was to send in the Nintendo for repair??? I returned my EA Active for another one 3 times now. I'm not happy about this game at all. I load it up and get a black screen that freezes my Wii as well. Only way to get the game out is to unplug the system and plug it back in. Hopefully someone out there has an answer

I have a modchip in my Wii, I used Win's 4.0 update before I bought it (yes bought original) and my wii never even asked for an update on EA Active.

My wife has been playing it happily for weeks without a problem.

I just downloaded the app that was around made by Waninkokos and ran it from the SD card firmware-updater_4.0.zip the file is called.

I have never updated from any disc ever.
