Hi guys is there going to be a firmware out for the starview 3
or should i just dump em, If i have to dump em, I will never buy a starview again... If they want to make some money why dont they just charge for the firmware ???

another story im afraid as there is no date for this release all your doing is getting peoples hopes up better to wait till you have concrete information on this

I've a question, How do you actually know there is not going to be a fix the box super? as all the threads said there was not going to be a fix for the box usb until surprise surprise it turned up on the 7th of June. it took a while i know but its here now. It was the same back at Christmas time with the starview 1 and the time before that too.
Does anybody actually know or are we just throwing stories at one another? If there is not going to be a fix for the rest of the starviews so be it, but where is the proof?
I spoke with skywonder a long time ago and asked "how long can this go on?" And they responded "Nobody knows".
I think that can answer a lot of questions on these threads.
Lets live and hope.

Starview themselves done no fixes for the last time the boxes went down in December they only fixed the Sv4 super usb
all of the other fixes where done by someone else that is no longer doing fixes for them
the starview 4 usb is the newest starview on the market and is still being sold that is why it got a fix and the rest did not they do not make the starview super 3 or TheBox 2 or the Starview 1 so that is why there is no support for them

dont think they would really as if they where to fix the other boxes starview would be losing money then dont you think ??

Sorry for the hi-jack but thought I'd save starting a new thread. Occasionally my starview box turns the audio descriptions for the visually impaired on and I've forgotton how to turn it off. I press audio and all that comes is is nar and eng and I can only select left, right or both

Fair enough, but i don't believe they only issue a fix for the usb 4 because its there latest product. Microsoft, Autocad and i'm sure all other softwares provide support for at least 3 years of product. You cant just update your product and screw the rest of them. If thats what they do then i'm sure their not doing themselves any favours.

if that is the case why did they bring out the starview 2 / 3 / 4 as the starview 1 box is still working after 6 yrs now you dont get any more channels on any of them they all do exactly the same thing all down to sales nothing else as soon as a new box is released support for the others fall by the way side thats just the way it is

You cant say nothing changed between them. I've had them all and each time they have got faster and with better epg etc.

the only thing thats got faster about the SV is how quick the support dies away for them,

well that is true but people only want to watch tv they not worried about all the other enchantments on them as you will still see people with the old starview
and also when the starview 4 was not working and the other older models where apart from the movies and the sports what does that tell you newer is not always better as we have learned over the last 4 months

well iv always loved the sv3...very reliable,and easy to use...i thin we might see a fix,when nag3 is fully engaged...well,hope so.

how did this other person do the fixes? did he have the source code?
it sucks that they will not fix the old boxes. very bad product support. they know these boxes will eventually stop working and screw people over trying to get them to purchase new box. so if you buy a starview dont expect it to work for more then a year.
if they didnt design their hardware so they can easily port an update to the older boxes then they are stupid.
i have always preferred starview, i recommended it to many people. i dont really like kryptview's EPG but they were the first to fix n2 and their fix worked on all their boxes not just the latest ones.
sv can go screw themselves, you can guess which box ill be recommending from now on.

they never needed the source code as that would never be handed over it has always been patched up to this but this time its not patchable as its a different way of encryption so without the source code it cant be done

Hey Fergus , I lost a lot of channels and tried several downloads on the SV3 box . I eventually did a factory reset , full scan and turned the EMU on .
ALL SORTED .

so all except the latest starviews are pretty much for the bin now?
this is starviw 4 - the usb version that has a fix and the rest wont?

I would bin Them even if a fix does come,, next time will you wait 4 months for a fix ..Just my opinion of course
