I have a question. I've heard about this but am not sure if it is true. In general, does a backed up game usually have longer load times (time it takes to load into the game) than the original disc manufactured by nintendo, or is there no truth to that?

Depends on how you are running the backup.

Original Wii games run at 6x speed
A backed up game run through the backup launcher does run at a slower 3x pace
A backed up game run from the usb loader runs faster than both the 3x pace of the backup launcher and the 6x pace of the original.

I've read why the backup launcher is locked to 3x but I really don't remember. But it isn't because of blank disc versus Nintendo manufactured disc. It's on the loader side of things. I'm sure you'll be able to find it if you search.

A mod chip can run backed up discs at 6x

Thanks.

Do you know what method most people are using today? Backup launcher, or modded chip?

I haven't tried it, but is the backup launcher at 3x essentially twice as slow as the wii disc?

Via usb, do you know how much faster it loads? Much much faster?

Does running through the backup launcher mean that if you are playing an online game against someone who is playing the original game, you might load into game much faster or much slower then they would and might timeout while waiting for them (or them for you)?

I don't really have a way of know what most people are using but I would assume backup launcher since a mod chip costs money.

Can't say exactly how much slower the backup through the backup launcher is. It is noticeably much slower in some games and just a little slower in others.

It's definitely much faster through USB in most games but just barely noticeably faster in others.

As for loading in online stuff, hasn't been a problem for me in USB loader.
Not as sure about the backup launcher. I think I remember hearing about something with Guitar Hero: World Tour dropping connections. Who knows how much truth there is to that?

In a game like Metroid Prime 3, using USB can reduce the load times on the doors drastically.
