Some developers have complained that they've already maxed out the Xbox 360; perhaps this will give them room to expand.

lol seriously? why would you be pissed? I would love that! and i doubt they will upgrade the consoles hardware, i do however see them re-doing the consoles design to house natal.

I'd assume he's talking bout it from a pirate's point of view eg new BR burner, expensive BR discs, the possibility of not being able to back-up games at all etc

To me this looks like a fake... who is David Ellis and where did they get this information from.
"it will be an slight upgrade" If this was real, they would not make a mistake like that (depending on who actually wrote this).
MS still has a lot of work to do with the 360, the games aren't even in full hd yet. I think that MS will not release a whole new 360 (for a long time), but will instead release a different version of it, like the slim ps2.

I doubt it will be that long, technology is advancing rapidly... i bought a $200 walkman a few years ago believing it was great, now it's worth $30 and has been replaced with mp3's

I'd like to see the XBOX 360 go till 2015. Let Microsoft take their time and produce something great with all the new technology that will be coming out. Plus, create a console that is more reliable than the XBOX 360.

The way I understand it is they will be releasing an "updated" console that will include the Natal hardware within it.
They will then also be selling the Natal hardware separately to work with existing 360's.
They're not going to require their 360 customers to purchase a new 360. Just the Natal hardware.
They revealed this on 360 hardware, for 360's. They're not going to have a whole new console. Updated chips perhaps, but not a whole new console.

This is just like the PS2 to the PS2 slim. Yeah Microsoft can tidy the xbox up a bit and if they stack all the silicon chips together and double load the motherboard they could possibly have a system around the size of the Wii. If this updated version of the 360 does have natal in it, it will also have to be compact because natal needs to be out in the open and not tucked away inside a home theater system. Does it surprise me that Microsoft is coming out with an updated system? no and for other people mentioning blue ray maybe it will have it because there has been lots of listings about Microsoft and blue ray paternerships in the past.

Could be true but I don't think so
If any of the above would be true, I'd have doubt about this console having a BR drive. At least for game use anyhow. I couldn't see publishers being too happy about releasing games in 2 different formats just for the same console (current 360 & "enhanced" 360).

i don't think ms is in any rush to get a new system out. sony isn't even thinking about next generation considering they can't figure this one out and nintendo could care less since the wii prints money.

Have you guys forgot about the valhalla design comming out? Maybe this is what they're talking about. Valhalla is supposed to be a superchip (cpu/gpu) with one cooling system that runs on low power (i'd guess about 150 watts). This could be what they're talking about.
As for project natal it looks like they have put even more into R&D than you think. They had a working prototype on late nite with jimmy fallon. I didn't quite understand the whole orange jumpsuit thing going on but it probably helps the camera reconize the body.
I googled it and found it incase any of you missed it.

i did forget about vahalla, but i thought that was just going to be an rrod free 360, nothing super special. and yea i seen that episode, it was very informative, and lol the only thing i could think of for the orange jumpsuites were for the camera to recgonize them.

This is fake, 4 year life cycle for a system?!?! Granted M$ will most likely be the manufacturer to hit the panic button and jump the gun on the next console. This just doesn't make sense.

Let's see... MS is dominating Sony in hardware and software sales. Currently there are no reasons to bring out a new console while the 360 is doing so well. Plus the fact that we've all seen how the increase prices of consoles are making people say they better not have to buy a new console any time soon. Shoot, Sony still can't go below $400 and they are getting killed with the loses.
Natal will boost sales for the 360, not replace it. Honestly, I swear some people have no business sense.

Don't care about a post count on a forum I visit a couple hours while at work. And this rumor isn't even worth talking about since it's so out there.
And a side note, the comment could've been aimed at MS for thinking about a new console so early. Or, at Sony for not seeing how badly they are doing. But yet, I guess you want it to be all about you.
