I 2 quick questions.
1) if I use the PS3 only for a game unit, is 80gb enough or do I really need a larger one.
2) I liked how ps2 had a lot of 4 player games, not online. I am wonder are there many 4 player games that one could play that you can just use one system...and not use the online.
For example, call of duty world at war...at least the box says so.
Thanks for any help possible.

1. Enough. But if you have to download games and have some DLC you may need to upgrade your HDD.
2. Call of Duty World at War is only split-screen co-op, not 4 player co-op.
You can play 4 players VS though.
Not sure about any other games sorry.

You talking about like a 4 player split screen? If so..
Games with 4 player split screen:
Call of Duty 4
Calling All Cars
Virtua Tennis 3
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08'
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
NHL 2K8
Warhawk (i think)
Haze
That's all I could find (cause I'm lazy) :)

Good, that is what I was looking for.
4 player, split screen.
I have a large family and want to keep playing but only want to buy one ps3....too much damn money.
Another silly question...how many games does it take for the ps3 harddrive to be full.

Well those games are on discs so it won't use up any space on your hard drive (except for the game updates, if you download them) But they are relatively small..
If you download games off of the Playstation Store, it's still going to hold A LOT of games before you fill up 80 gigs :)

Some Games on Disk do require a Hard Drive down load from the disk. Most are @ 1gig and lower.

so the question becomes what is the purpose of the harddrive being bigger....unless you are using for a media center...then that I can understand...for my computer has 4 tera's in it.
in other words, will it help my gaming experience to go bigger.

Well, I have around 15 PS3 games and a few PSN games and I've only just filled up my 40GB, so take that as you like.
One question to you guys: why have you not suggested Little Big Planet yet? :o Also from the games I have, I can tell you Motorstorm Pacific Rift has 4 player split screen too.
PSP, all the way from 1.00 to 5.50 GEN D2 - DS Lite w/ M3DS Real (M3 Sakura v1.34)
PS3 3.01 - iPod Touch 2G 16GB Jailbroken - Xbox 360 60GB - PC, Q6600, 3GB DDR2, GTX260 (216) 896MB

unless you plan to get alot ALOT of downloadable content like rock band guitar hero and such 80 gigs should last you quite a while. heck even if you do get alot of stuff 80 gigs will still last you.
one thing i wanna point out is that Warhawk is GREAT 4 player mayhem! 4 people can go online via split screen and enter matches that can have up to 32 people. plus it has 3 booster packs that add a new stage each plus a new vehicle, which takes the game up to new levels of play and strategy.
and it is actually still pretty fun if you do offline 4 player it just kinda pales in comparison to that craziness of online warhawk

A couple notes regarding Warhawk. I agree with the post above, it is great 4 player, split screen, but you need to know the following...
To start a game (even if you are just playing 2v2 at home with no one else able to join in, you need to have a connection to the internet and sign in.
There are also some downloadables that you can play split screen like kung fu rag doll and calling all cars. (Cheap, but fun).

Game developers seem to think we don't have actual friends any more, i couldn't count the amount of times I've been with a friend wanting to play a 2 player game, to find out its only online multiplayer or system link.
