Update issue with Prototype?!

OK What Up. New to the forum need some help.
(currentley don't have live)
Recently I flashed my benq with 1.5fw , things working great so far got COD5 and Prototype. COD works flawlessly , but when I when I run Prototype(w/ hdd in console) it asked me to update. When I run Proto without hdd works fine just can't save of course. Is this a firmware issue , do I just need to reflash with 1.6fw cause of the new wave3 bullshit or what? ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Do you have 1.5 or 1.51 ?? Did you have to patch Prototype to work as a wave 2 ? If so i would be staying off xbox live

I have 1.5 , and I didn't patch Proto (currentley I dn't have live) 360 is asking for an update from live when I try to play Proto. I'm trying to figure out if I can manually do the update or if I need to reflash to play these newer games. Just want to play Proto and save to my drive.

I DONT HAVE XBOX LIVE. CANT PLAY GAME ASKING FOR UPDATE. Do I need to reflash to play the wave3's? or is it possible to update manually, fuck.

Wow... Settle down. You need ix1.51 or ix1.6 to play wave 3 games. So either you update or you patch the ISO. What I don't get is how you can actually boot a wave 3 game with ix1.5 firmware.

Yea this game has just been ticking me off sorry still getting used to this forum thing.
Homesick: I am running NEX.
Leerage: For some reason when I take my 360 hard drive out and boot proto and it runs fine just can't save my game. It's the most addicting game I ever played. Frustering cause when I boot with HDD in 360 a message comes up saying "you need an update to run this game". I say yes. and I get " Can not install the update, disc not readable". Also to keep in mind I patchd proto to a point , my agbx dosen't have the defs for WAVE3, so it didnt get patchd all the way.(is there something better than agbx?) Thanks

Thank you for the info. Now when you say "patched", are you referring to what ABGX did when you ran the ISO through it or have you "patched" the ISO with a wave 2 video partition through Mulleter?

Since you have NXE, once you put the game in, hit Y and try installing it to the hard drive, then go ahead and boot the game to see if the update will take. It is weird that you are able to play the game, but it has trouble reading the disc when you want to update. Also, you might try clearing the XBOX 360 cache. -Clear Your Cache
You can do this by going to your HDD, pressing Y, and then pressing these buttons in the following order. X, X, LB, RB, X, X. Then answering yes to the pop-up question.

I also have problems with Prototype (and Ghostbusters too). This weekend i successfully updated to ixtreme 1.6 (from ix 1.1a) and can play some wave 3 backups like UCF. But when trying to load Prototype or Gb i get the "need to update" message.
I don't know if i can update without been banned, so i didn't do it.
It's safe to update this? There's another "safe" way? I don't play online, but i don't want to be banned neither.

Just update. That is a game update and will not have any affect. It would do the same thing if it were retail.

Hey guys,
Hope every1 is well.
I have the same problem as "shtupisay." I am running NEX, with firmware 1.5. Games that have been released since damnation have not worked after patching with ppf. When you try to run the game with the HDD attached, it asks to update, but gives the error "cant install update. the disc is unrecognized" when trying to install. When the HDD isnt attached, the game boots fine from the disc which is very strange. I have tried clearing the cache, but this did not work. When I play older games, I can create/load save games fine with the HDD, so dont think there is a problem with it.
Has anyone found a solution for this? I am very close to formatting my HDD...
Please let me know.
