On the 'ixtreme 1.6' feature list it mentions 'integrated 0800 mode for ripping games'. Does this mean that I can use the drive for both ripping (using the enable0800.iso disk) and for actually playing backups? Thanks in advance.

Yes, ix1.6 has the 0800 feature. To activate, eject the drive, shut it off and push the tray half way in. Power on and Windows should recognize the drive. You can click the eject button to shut the drive.
