I had this issue with mine, i just persevered with it; I may be wrong, but the only thing i changed when i got it to work was the position of the drive tray. try experimenting with how far out it is, i'm not sure if the position of the tray does make a difference. so long as it isn't fully open and it isn't closed. But that is what worked for me;

Instead of doing the halfway trick, keep the drive closed and click Intro/Device ID. Then power cycle the drive after you click OK. You should get good flash chip properties and can read the flash chip.

i just tried this and it made my computer froze. i tried removing the drivers and when i do that jungleflasher wont find the ports. and since it froze during the vendor intro i made the mistake of turning off the xbox and now when i turn it back on the green light just flashes and it wont ejct the drive or anything. please dont tell me that i bricked the drive. if i did i saved the original FW.

No need to worry. You can't brick a BenQ drive. They support Bad-Flash recovery. :)
The reason it isn't ejecting is because it doesn't have firmware on it. As long as you have the original.bin, you are fine.
So every time you connect the drive now it freezes?

only when i try to put it in vendor mode using VCC trick or trying to use DosFlash 32 i just tried to use Dosflash16 and i wrote the new 1.6 on it no problem but unfortunately when i restarted the xbox it still did the flashing green light and wont eject. was there some kind of outro i was supposed to do like in JF? im about to try and just restore it to the original FW.

So you did boot to a flash drive with DosFlash16? Since that was successful, maybe try Jungle Flasher now. With iXtreme on there, all you do is hit Intro, and it should get good flash chip properties.

ok sweet turns out i just had to unplug the entire unit from the wall let it reset and plug it back in and everything worked!!!!
ok new question if you dont mind the main reason i wanted to upgrade to 1.6 was because it had 0008 mode intgrated in it. how do i put it in that mode so that i can rip games using my 360 drive and XBC?

Connect the drive. Eject the tray. Shut off the drive and push the try in half way. Return power to the drive and it should be detected by Windows. Might take 15-20 seconds. Not sure if using the 360 to power the DVD drive will work because I think it will shut off after a period of time (not for sure on that though).

To get the drive recognized when you have it connected to the VIA card, you will need that driver back in C:\Windows\system32\drivers folder. The 5.30C driver for WinXP works great or if you have Vista/Win7, the file name was vsmraid.sys.

Yes you will flash the ix1.6 0800 dedicated firmware to the drive so you can read games. When done, you will need to flash back to original ix1.6.
But before you flash ix1.6 0800 firmware, restore the VIA drive and then do the half tray status on the drive.

On a side note. I could not get my pc to see my drive using the Sata Card. I tried using the onboard Sata and it seen it right away. Also in device manager are you doing the scan for new hardware this might also help.

ok im about to just give up on life. i just tried to reflash it back to stock using dosflash16 and it reported everything was good JF says the FW is good and that it is stock i took out the power supply for like an hour a pluged it back in and turn on the xbox and what do you know back to the flashing green light with no ejecting. reflashed it at least 20 times since then trying bot ix1.6 and the stock and no matter what same results. and ideas on WTF is going on? and yes i put the driver back.
if you dont mind leerage could you PM me your yahoo or something so that i dont have to try something it fails then have to post it and wait for a reply?
