Looking to flash my Xbox

The problem is that I've never done that before...
I reckon I need an extractor. My Xbox is a Lite on, but I want to do it for my friends also, so an extractor that works with all types of drives would be nice.
With the USB maximus extractor, would I need sata adapters and stuff?

Like I said, the extractor is needed for lite-ons. You need it in order to retrieve the drive key so you can flash the drive.
FOr other drives, you can retrieve the key data without an extractor.

hmm, and so, i need that extractor because my drive is a lite on. What's the best/ easiest?
Can I do it via USB, or do I need a desktop?(I'm using a laptop right now)
Can you point me out some good tutorials?

so, i still need to connect the drive to the computer via sata to flash it right?
That means I have to have a specific card so it can be detected right?

Thats correct. The cards are pretty cheap. I think I paid like 13 dollars for my brand new from Newegg. You can get them on ebay even cheaper.

well, I don't live in the USA, I live in Portugal, Europe. Things here are very expensive, and I would have to order it online which would be even more expensive.
I was hoping that all I would need was a desktop and one of these tools. Seems like it is way more difficult than I was expecting.

No, don't listen to these guys. The banana split method is how you flash your drive. Do a search on this method.

you all can thank me for the banana split method as i am the creator/founder of it. and yes it does work. it also doesnt require the opening of the case its a simple USB flash procedure that you have to do on the front USB ports at the same time using a USB 'Y' cable.

your taco method is nothing but a complete rip off of my banana split method. the only thing you did was add in a pretty GUI for the stupid people that have to look at cute little puppies while flashing their console.
