So, basically I have no idea what's wrong, here's the story. I have a Hitachi 59 drive. I used Slax 2.1 to put the drive into mode B. I then flashed it with Jungleflasher 1.62 to iXtreme 1.51 in XP. I used on board sata and did it with the Win API option as the port IO option is grayed out.

I didn't get any errors and it all seemed to go according to plan. I then burned a backup using a Pioneer 212D and Verbatim DVD+R DL made in Singapore. I used Imgburn, opened the .dvd file, made sure that the layer break is set to 1913760 and burned the disk at 2.4x. I checked the ISO beforehand with XDVDMulleter and everything seems to check out.

Having done all of that when I go to play the disk all it says is "open tray" and will not play the disk. What am I doing wrong? What did I miss? I thought I had everything covered please help!

Hitachis are notorious for this problem. The laser struggles to read through the dye in the backup. You will need to do a POT calibration on the laser. Fairly easy to do with a multimeter. Google "XBOX 360 POT Calibration" and you should be able to get your drive playing backups.

Edit - Mulleter is discontinued. You should use ABGX360 v1.0.1 to scan your ISOs before burn. But I don't think that had an effect on your problem. You will still need to do the POT Calibration.
