So the case is i bought my x0 in hong kong, i know its soft moded, it plays 'copy' games as well (the console is NTSC-J, however i use PAL tv). I wanted to play some PAL original games, but it says region is wrong. How can i turn on region override if i dont know what softmod i got? How to acces softmod menu?
And second question, i bought prototype wich prompts for an firmware update, should i do it? Or it could brick console?

Your console is not softmodded. It plays backups because the dvd drive was modded either by flashing the firmware or by modchip. You can't change the region.

Yeah, firmware is flashed. The guy said its region free, and PAL / NTSC games work (the copy ones, and ninja gaiden original). So he lied about regionfree?
