Hello,

I don?t exactly get this hole taking updates??
If my Wii has a microchip and it is a NTSC is it ok to take updates from an NTSC game or will this brick it??
What if it is a backup game??
I read some where that no matter what kind of game your using NTSC or PAL if the update is at a higher level (like 3.4 and it?s a 4.0) then your Wii it will Brick your Wii is this correct??

Hope someone can help
Thank you so much

Hello,
Hi

I don?t exactly get this hole taking updates??
Ok

If my Wii has a microchip and it is a NTSC is it ok to take updates from an NTSC game or will this brick it??
If you have a NTSC console, it is okay to receive an update from an NTSC disc. And mod chip is a better term to use than microchip.

What if it is a backup game??
If the region is the same, NTSC console, NTSC backup it is fine.

I read some where that no matter what kind of game your using NTSC or PAL if the update is at a higher level (like 3.4 and it?s a 4.0) then your Wii it will Brick your Wii is this correct??
No, if this was true then it would be impossible for people to get to a higher firmware. The purpose of updates isn't to brick your Wii. Nintendo hasn't released updates with the sole purpose of bricking Wii.
People get bricks when they update with a game from a different region. If you have a PAL console and you update with a NTSC disc you may get a brick. It isn't 100% guaranteed but you should definitely not risk it.

Hope someone can help
Thank you so much
Hope this helped

Well just as an example this MadWorld disc here.
It's a NTSC disc. At the bottom it says "For use only in USA, Canada, Mexico, and Latin America RVL-RZZE, USA Model No. Rvl-006(USA)
There are plenty of hints in there

Also PAL discs have a diamond on them

But besides all that unless you buy a game from an import store chances are it's going to be your region.

If it's a backup disc All you have to do is use WBFS or something like that that tells you the game's ID. Notice how above RZZE is the code for MadWorld? That last E in RZZE means that it's an NTSC disc. A PAL disc would be RZZP and an NTSC-J disc would be RZZJ.

There are a lot of ways to tell.
Even if you downloaded it, the place where you got it from would say.

I wanted to add that not all NTSC games are safe to update with.

There is NTSC(U) which is USA and NTSC(J) which is Japan both are different regions.

Updating a NTSC(U) system with a NTSC(J) backup can cause a semi-brick/full brick.

If you have a NTSC(U) system make sure you only update with a NTSC(U) game disc.

If you have a NTSC(J) system make sure you only update with a NTSC(J) game disc.

If you have a PAL system make sure you only update with a PAL game disc.

You can use WiiBrickBlocker to load the backup ISO and choose read info and it will give you the region country code. If the region country code is different then your Wii System region then patch it to disable the update. Now the backup disc will be safe to play on your system. You can download WiiBrickBlocker HERE.
