Hi, a friend has asked me to update his firmware on his lite-on drive so he can play 3rd wave. His drive is already flashed so do i need to buy a spear. thanks in advance.

No, you don't need the spear again.

If you don't have the dummy bin, then you will need to dump it from the drive.

Load up JF and go to the DVDkey tab.
Eject Lite-ON and then shut it off.
Push tray in half way and then turn drive back on.
Click button that says "dummy from iXtreme"
It will dump the dummy bin for you and then you need to spoof to ix1.6.
Go to MTKFlash and click Lite-ON erase. Click OK twice and power cycle within 1 second. Should get good flash chip properties (0x72) and then click write.
