I have my Hitachi 0079FL drive in mode B, I burned the Unlock 79 CD, and now its not successfully playing. I don't really know whats going on with this. I tried burning image.bin, image.cue, and image.cdt in every possible combination and i even tried each one by itself. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I desperately need help on this. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
I had the same problem doing a Hitachi79. What I was doing wrong was as soon as the damn thing went it I would hit the unlock 79 and I kept getting that error message. Give it a few seconds till you hear it stop spinning and hit the unlock. See if that works.
Try doing this, this is how i do mine, works everytime!!
First you will need the 79unlock cd, When you dl it open up the folder and drag the 79unlock cmd file to a clear space in your c: drive, I use slax to get the drive into mode b, once in mode b eject the tray on xbox and insert the 79 unlock cd, play it once on the xbox and then play again and then pause it straight away. Then on pc goto start/ run and type cmd, that will bring a command window up then type cd c:\ make sure you leave a space between cd and c and then press enter, you will then see c:\> type 79unlock d where d is your drive letter, press enter and it should say done, and thats it, its unlocked you can now dump the firmware.

Alright im going to try this now but i forgot to add the fact that now that my drive is in mode B it wont stay closed. It will stay closed for about 6-7 seconds and just open up again by itself

Ok nevermind. Got it to work by just burning the .cue file and letting it spin before i hit unlock. Thanks for the help everyone! I'm definitely going to be coming to these forums more often.
