Which model to buy for hacking & modding?

I'm just wondering which model would you recommend thats currently on sale? Either slim and light or the newer 3000? I guess there are different variations of those 2 models? I will want to be modding the firmware so I can run games from memory card etc. Thx

any Phat 100x models, or a 200x with firmware 3.95 and under and hoping this will steer you clear of TA088v3 motherboard this motherboard started coming in with firmware above 3.95

Hooray! Lucky me I went out and got a 2003 with v3.60 and the best bit is the PSP is YELLOW!!
