i'm pretty sure lu64/65 wii's cant be softmodded, well its hit or miss. They are coming out with Softmii 3.0 soon(hopefully) which will allow this to happen.
You are probably following the guide that works for wii's that arent lu64/65.
There was something I read about a lu64fix that works on some but i wouldnt feel like trying something that isnt guaranteed to work. I guess that is your choice though.
You can soft mod the LU64 wiis although there are half and half results currently, some are bricking their wii and some and successfully hacking it. If you feel like you want to take the risk, then download This (the LU64 Fix) and install it on your wii using the directions stated. It will serve as you cIOS. Then just install a usb loader Such as this one using a WAD manager and format the USB your using to WBFS using a program such as EASEus Partition manager (free, can be downloaded here) and then putting the ISOs of the games you have on there, plugging it into your wii, booting it from the newly created USB loader channel and then playing your games! Hope this helped.
EDIT: Also, backup all ISOs you currently have on the USB and if the above method does not work, then delete the partition (make it blank) and then plug it into your wii and boot up the USB loader - it will format through your wii for you. Post your results of this too if the above method does not work out for you. Hope this helped.
I use discs as they are more reliable and take up less space (to me). But here is a neat trick if you own an iPod: Plug it into your computer. Backup all your music and then restore it to factory defaults through iTunes. In the settings screen, make sure disk mode is checked after restoring it. Then, unplug it, put it in disk mode (a button combination that is different for every ipod, Google yours) and plug it back into your computer. Your computer will recognize it as a blank USB partition - format it to WBFS. Store all the ISOs of Wii games that you want on there then uplug it. Put it back in disk mode (do this every time you plug it into your computer or Wii) and plug it into your Wii. It will recognize it in the USB loader and voila, iWii (lol). Boot up all the games you want. (this is only if you own an ipod with greater than 5gb of storage)
i just went a bought a 500Gb freeagent. and it still wont let em format it using windows Xp, but if i do it through windows 7 it says it formats it but then it still dont show up on the wii
Your having some bad luck there SL7. But, try making the partition raw (blank) and then inserting it into the wii, and booting USB loader GX and it will format it for you. Try it out and post your results.
because i had to use the LU64fix and it Says just to install the Lu64Cios and DO NOT install any other Cios but what would really happen if i did install the latest one
