Cant get past ret 1035 error on IOS35

Ok so I have done the guide on here about doing the softmod on 4.0u and thats what I am at right now. I did the downgradeIOS35 and then tried and then installed IOS35.wad onto IOS249. Right after I do that I try to install CIOSv7.wad to IOS35 and it gives me a ret 1035 error.

Any ideas on what to do?

You might want to try again and make sure that you really did downgrade and install IOS35.

-1035 is the error that people get when they try to install a wad using an IOS that has had the trucha bug fixed. Downgrading IOS35 is specifically for fixing this.

And just something else that I would add since sometimes people ask why would you downgrade IOS35 and then immediately follow it up with installing IOS35. My understanding of it is that you don't actually downgrade IOS35 in the traditional sense. You just make it's version lower so you can install your own IOS35 over it. I believe Nintendo made it so that you can't install a lower version of an IOS over a more recent one.

Anyway, super tanget right there, just make sure that you "fix" your IOS35.

Edit: And you wouldn't be installing IOS35 to IOS249. IOS35 is its own legitimate IOS.

Thanks for the reply! The order I do it in is. Downgrade ios35 then load up wad manager and select ios249 then choose the sd card. Then choose ios35.wad. Then I close out of wad manager. Open wad manager again selection ios35 then selection ciosv7. But that way gives me a ret (which I am guessing means retention) 1035 error.

I am just wondering if the file I have has something else on it. I got it to work one time before but that is when I downgraded to 3.2 and did the guide but then backups still didn't work and some original games didn't boot too so I figured I did something wrong so I tried the guide again in 4.0u and it has the ret error.

Btw also I was using DVD+r media burnt at 2x with booktype set to DVD-rom. Should I get DVD-r media?

Hey guy, I just did this whole process today. You're doing this for WADs right? I did this all this morning. This is the order I did it in and I was 100% successful.

I first downgraded IOS35. Then I started up WAD Manager 1.4, chose all the default settings, and installed IOS35. After I had to restart up the WAD Manager again, I chose to install CIOSv7 on IOS35.

I haven't installed WADs yet, but I'm sure because I had no problems and everything went smooth, I'm able to now. I followed this from a tutorial on another site and a guy said it worked for him.

Forgot to add, I did this all with the HBC just for WADs. I didn't do any softmod complete thing through BannerBomb.

I had the same problem. Fixed it (with help from larry) by using "any title deleter" (the modded version) to delete iso 249. Then installed cIOS again, rev 7. Something about not being able to intsall cIOS 4-13 over cIOS 1-3. Once done this follwoed the full 4.0 tut in the sticky.
