How to register a previously registered console w/ MS?

I've got a few units that have errors covered under warranty, but when I go to register the console it says it has already been registered and to contact customer support. I know they can be a pain so does anyone have any info that could help me avoid pitfalls while trying to get them to allow me to register the consoles for warranty repair? Does anyone here have any experience in this matter?

Just called them up and tell the problem. If they throw a fit about re-registering, tell them you are going to guy a PS3 then or something like that. Some agents are really good about re-registering, and then some don't even know what they are talking about or doing.

Just keep calling back until you get an agent who will switch it for you. I had to go through about ten before I got one that would do it for me. That was only about a month and a half ago.
It also helps if you know the name or email it's already registered to. Just tell the agent that the 360 belongs to both you and that person, and you need to switch it over. It worked for me.

i just say i bought it at a garage sale for dirt cheap and they always switch the registration over to me.
