SV4 Invalid Box Msg Now It's Dead

Hi,
Wondered if anyone can help. For a few days I've been getting a message saying Invalid box on my SV4. Now it's just turned itself off and I can't switch it back on. There are no lights on the front of it coming on, but when I switch it on and off on the back of the box there is a power up noise from my TV but then nothing.
I recently put the new V1.10 software on it and that's when it all went to pot. Any help will be really appreciated.

Sounds like you got a clone, is the a heatsink on the CPU. Look through the grills on the top of the box, if you see a silver square on the CPU you have a clone.
I would ask for a replacement as a clone will not work with the latest firmware. It is the 1.10 firmware that kills the bootloader.

Yeah got a silver square just off to the centre on the right through the slats on top of the box. I take it I've got a clone then! The guy I bought it from was on ebay so looks like I'm screwed, ah well lesson learnt. Thanks for your help

Yeah, the actual sale was removed by ebay but the transaction went thru & I received the box in due course. I have tried to contact the lad who sold it me but to no avail.

Sorry to hear that and it is unfortunate that you cannot contact them. There are quite a few recommended sellers here and across all the forums, you have been unlucky as you said.

No worries mate - Like I said I'll put it down to experience. Where can I find a reputable reseller then that won't sell me a clone?!

Google Wizardsatellites UK they are the main distributors and will only sell genuine models. There are other boxes though ;)

yep other is right as i dont think we can say 100% all channels,other genuine supplier if u goggle skywonder in uk all originals.

Do you mean that the SV4 is prone to channel loss even if it is an original box? It's all good advice and I do appreciate your input

the latest fix does not bring back all channels,6 or 8 missing the fix needs a fix,it is always a good idea to read the latest threads for info to get the jist of things,the more u know now can help in the future.
just to note channel loss can be put down to movement aswell

Yeah good call. I'm probably gonna get another SV4 from a decent supplier that you guys reccomended and hopefully all the channels back! I'll keep my eye on the threads before I get the box though to see what's said in the mean time.
