I'm thinking of modding my firmware in my BenQ drive and was wondering a few things. Is there a reasonable way to switch off the modded firmware to stop the ban stick? And if not how often or what's the risk of me getting banned from live. I don't currently play live but I may in the future.

OH yeah and if I'm playing a retail copy I still run the risk of getting banned right?

Apart from taking your drive out and reflashing back to stock firmware, then no other way

If you run your backups through ABGX before you burn them, then the risk is minimal but there will always be a small risk

I'm sorta computer savvy, but one of my friends has done this for a few people and offered to do it for me for 20$ do you think I should just pay him to do it or attempt to do it myself?

if you're computer savy, it shouldnt be hard but some research will need to be done. you gotta ask yourself whats more valuable to you-reading up on flashing for a day or the 20 bucks.

If you're computer saavy, then flashing would be something good to learn, just to know how to do it :)

wow, everything that i've found so far says that you have to cut traces on the circuit board to extract your key on the benq drives? is this still true?
