Super Mario Galaxy and Mario kart are not working , no error , just resets the wii, all the other games work fine, i even went and bought a brand new original SMG and it resets the machine. Anyone know how to tell which modchip is in your wii?? I need to figure out whats going on here :(

Did you put a mod chip in? The wii does not come with a mod chip. Please include some more details about your system and how you're trying to play these games.

Sorry yes ofcourse theres a modchip in it. It plays all the other titles fine except mario galaxy and mario kart. I have few mario galaxys now cuz ive burned them different ways 4x and 8x , i know the discs are fine cuz the title shows up but when u click start it goes to the screen thats black with 12 squares across the screen that say wii and then restarts. I went out today and bought a brand new original mario galaxy and it did the exact same thing it just restarts the wii.

Did you BrickBlock these games? maybe your wii system firmware needs updating?

What brand media are you using?

Are you using ImgBurn to burn these to disc or something else and have you tried burning at 1x?

It could be a bad burn on to media unless your wii is softmodded where you play the backup games from the backup launcher installed on the wii or where it actually has a modchip installed inside the wii.

Ok there is definately a hard mod chip installed inside the wii. The guy who installed it cant remember which chip he put in cuz it was so long ago (december 2007). I also know im burning the discs properly for sure because ive used my discs before on different wii. The most puzzling part is an original mario galaxy from the store wouldnt play in this wii. It did the exact same thing as the backups, it went to the black screen with 12 squares that say wii and resets. Im thinking the modchip needs an update. Ive been reading the forums really trying to figure this out and thats what im guessing now is the issue???

Yes i agree, this now sounds like the modchip needs updating. Now for you to find out which modchip you have installed in the wii, you will have to open up the wii which there is a guide here on how to do that:

http://www.wii-chip.co.uk/install%20instructions.html#open

If its possible you can take a pic of the chip and upload it here so we can help you identify it. Also you will need to buy a tri-wing screwdriver and a phillips screwdriver to be able to open up the wii if you havent already got these.

Also im thinking that your modchip could quite possibly be a wiikey as these were quite popular before but just to make sure you are going to have to open up the wii as there really isnt any other way to check to be honest.

Hope this helps :)

yes this helps a lot , thanx so much for the support. Im jus wondering if anyone else has experienced this problem and ive been reading up and i guess black screens are a popular problem, is the screen that goes black with 12 squares that say wii , is that the same "black screen" that people keep talking about??

I think most of the issues similar to this problem your having is with people who have softmodded their wii's and have old versions of backup launchers etc, but i do remember having a similar problem as you have i cant remember which game it was but i did BrickBlock the game and the game wouldnt play due to it needing to install an update (which BrickBlocker blocks) for it to run correctly but the game would display in the wii disc channel and after it started to load i would get a black screen and then the wiimote would become unresponsive.

These problems are now re occuring with some of the later games such as EA active which are a totally different problem as with what the older games had. Im pressuming your talking about this which most people are having problems with now which isnt this in your case and a simple modchip update should fix this issue

Also just to make sure, the troubled games you are trying to play are the same region as your wii?

yep for sure. Im not gonna have my answers now till tomorrow. The guy who installed the modchip seems to think that its not a wiikey modchip in there because im not getting the 001 error. I need to talk to the guy that had this wii (he had it for over a year) and find out if he installed anything custom from an sd card.
