I have a brand new Maximus power dongle from modchipcentral.com trying to flash the BENQ. Here is what I do:
Make all connection
Turn on PC
Flip switch on dongle (blue light comes on)
Press eject button
DVD Drive makes noise
Tray comes out about .5 of an inch then back in.
The drive is not broke, because I connect it back to the 360 and it will come out all the way.
Any ideas/suggestions? I have never used the dongle before, I really hope its not defective.
By the way, do I have to use the alligator clip?

Is the Mode B switch on? I don't know if that would have an effect on it... just a suggestion.

How can I tell if mode B is on or off? It is a blue light, that is the only thing I can tell :P. I didn't accidentally press Mode B either.

The BENQ is also a virgin BENQ w/ stock xbox firmware

The Mode B switched should be labeled on the connectivity kit.

It is labeled, but there is nothing (that I can see) to see if it's on. just a button similar to the eject button, and I am 100% sure I am not pressing Mode B.
I may have found the answer, but someone confirm this. I am not sure if the "power Dongle" is this smart. Since this is a virgin BENQ, it DOES NOT have to be in 1/2 tray status, just turn it on and that's it. I am playing it safe and just going to flash using the 360, but can anyone confirm if that is why it is not ejecting for me.

Someone over @ Maxconsole suggested to HOLD the eject button? Any1 else have a dongle? What do yall do? If you do a simple press, will it go out and back in? I am at work so I can't try holding the eject button.

Sounds like an issue with your drive (sticking) when you hit eject, try pulling on the drive a little bit to see if it comes out.

But the weird thing is it will eject perfectly normal when the 360 powers the drive.
So gently pull the dvd tray while I press the eject button? That sorta defeats the purpose of making the dongle "easy to use."

I am saying to pull on it to see if it comes out. If it comes out, then it's sticking. You might want to try a differnet molex connection too (power to adapter)

Thanks for everyone's input and help, but Holding the button did the trick. Very weird and unusual. I have to hold it, and if I let go, the tray will go back in.
So what I will do / did, is hold the button to eject all the way, let go of the button, while its going in, flip the switch.
Nice!!!... I guess
