I got Conduit today. The disc is the prettiest Wii disc I have ever seen. It actually has more than two colors. It's like the discs of games on Sony and Microsoft consoles.

Anyway I know not a lot of conversation goes on here outside of help threads but maybe someone was curious about the Conduit update like I was. I was so curious that I decided to do it just to see what it does despite the message that came with it saying that if you have unauthorized "stuffs" it might remove them and make your system inoperable. My system is up to date with 4.0 but it still wanted to update. Before I updated I used title lister and noted the versions of most of the IOSes that I had installed.

First thing I did after updating was go to AnyTitle Deleter and what do you know I saw an error that I hadn't seen in ages. -1017
I guess that these updates don't consider you console up to date unless you have the proper version of each IOS.

Wasn't anything that IOS downgrader couldn't handle but I also noticed that it broke the Gamecube Backup Launcher. I had to reinstall cMIOS for it to work again. Which I thought was a little strange because I don't remember hearing anything about Nintendo doing anything to MIOS.

After I downgraded the IOSes to my NOT surprise Conduit wanted to update again. But I said nah, that's alright I'll use GeckOS for you until I install you on the hard drive.

It just goes to show you that even though Nintendo considers these things updates, they aren't anything necessary for the game to run. The game runs just fine through GeckoOS without the very latest version of each IOS.

So all i got to do is get rid of the update and the game will be fine? Hey man, you mind adding me to your wii friendlist?

I only had to deal with the update because I was running it through the disc channel. If you use USB or a launcher you won't have to worry about the update.

And yeah we can do the friend list thing. It will have to be a PM though since friend codes are like a capital offense on Afterdawn.

I'll give you for Brawl, Kart, RockBand, World at War, and Conduit in case you have any of those as well.

Conduit code might change actually. Not sure how I feel about having to stay with the same name on a file (and with only 8 letters)

Sent.

The PM system here seems to be pretty bare. I have to type a persons name in and it doesn't even look like I can check messages that I sent.
I wouldn't be surprised if the way it lets you know you have a PM is the most subtle way ever (as opposed to OMG!!! U hav MESAAGE!!!)

I have wii speak and it is awesome, it is the future of VOIP, headsets fail!!!@#$@!

i was wondering if anyone else loading conduit off a usb experienced extremely slow loading times for teh game, especially connecting to wifi?

oh and a quick noob question..I have wiiconnect24 turned off for fear of getting an update that will brick my system, but i cant access the news channels and weather without it on, is it ok to turn it on for that?

Yeah I'm curious if I rent this game. I have IOS35 downgraded, then reinstalled, then installed CIOSrev10 to overwrite rev7. Can't we just update and that's it? I mean I did this with Animal Crossing and it was fine.

Edit: Some guy over at IGN Forums claims his friend did the game/system update with The Conduit and said he could still do backup games and homebrew and everything.

Question is will this render other things incompatible like installing WADs and such? Especially with my situation above the edit ^^^

My Wii is on 3.4 v1. I have a D2Pro9. I use the update blocker function and I played Punchout and Ghostbusters and it never asked for an update and played the game without a hiccup. I agree that updated IOS's don't always add functionality to games. ---Chikn

According to Wiibrew, the Animal Crossing update (IOS38) is probably for Wii Speak and removed the fake signing bug? What fake signing bug is that for, and will this interfere with the newer CIOS since they involve to do with 38? Is The Conduit safe?

Alright so I just bought the Conduit and I made a backup of it. It is the same region as my wii and I haven't updated my Wii in a while.
The update asks me to update to play the game and I want to update the wii since I don't use homebrew channel or any of that stuff.
I only use the mod to play my backups
Is it safe to update from the Conduit disc?
THANKS!

recently i burned the conduit(pal), ran the update but before completion, error rose. It said to remove disk and turn off wii which usually occurs due to bad media/burn but i used imgburn at 4x on verbatim. Moreover most of my other backup disks which worked without any problems before showed the same error everytime i inserted the disk. I have my wii modded with wiikey.
THNX!
