Benq Drive issues after flash.

Hello all,

I have flashed a benQ drive to the latest firmware of ixtreme. This drive although gave me issues while trying to flash. Finally after some tampering I believe i have flashed it.

Now the problem is the drive will not play any backups, nor will it play store bought games BUT will play DVDs (even backed up DVDs) without an issue. Ive learned from another post that a possible cleaning or of the drive or laser replacement may correct this.

My main question is, since the xbox is still turning on (without red lights) does that mean the f/w is somewhat good enough for me to still pull the drive key off?(and potentially swap drives)

I also still have the Original f/w, i just wanna be sure i will be able to get the drive key to swap the drive.

If it is not playing backups or originals, it could possibly be the laser. Make sure the there is not dust or anything on the laser also.

You also might want to make sure that you have a good DVDkey too.

Cleaning the drive is going to be my first priority (once i'm home from work) and i am hoping that is the simple solution.

When you say DVDkey are you reffering to the key that is embedded in the firmware of the drive? (i hope it is good, thats my backup plan is to just swap the drive)

This is such an odd problem, all the xboxs ive delt with, this is the first to give me grief
