Hey Guys,

I'd appreciate your help with the following.
Im fairly used to the pocess of flashing xboxes as i have done a few over the past year. Including all makes and models.

I have encountered some bad flashes before also and have simply done the bad flash method to revive the drive.

However i am at a bit of a loss with my latest flash.

It is a samsung ms28 drive and halfway through flashing my computer locked up and i had to reboot. However, now my drive will not be recognised on my computer, with all the programs such as dosflash 32 and Jungleflasher and including dosflash 16 and iprep etc.

I would try to simply do the bad flash method and restore the drive but my drive just is not being recognised. I cant even erase or read the drives firmware.

Any ideas?

Keep trying to power cycle the drive when you boot to DOS and are using DosFlash16.

Hey Greddy,

No its a good point but i have already tried all my sata ports including the primary one and have even tried a new sata cable so i dont think this is the issue.

Thanks for the response though.

hey im having same problem, so if anyone able to help would really appreciate it. my computer froze on me on the writing part and now i cant get it to detect on any computer i have tried. my next step was to use dos flash but having trouble finding a guide on how to use it so ill try that if someone can point me to direction of a tutorial.

thing is i cant even get my bios to pick up the drive is that gonna be a problem? also while trouble shooting my drive last night i did something to my Via card, because now its not seeing it there. so even if i could get my samsung to go into dosflash my via card isnt working and i dont know why.

have a samsung ms28 if that matters

I dont care if you care about my spelling and or grammar. I also dont care if you dont care that i dont care that you care about my spelling and or grammar.

This is my first post so I apologize if I say something wrong. I am trying to read a Samsung MS28 with Jungleflasher so I can spoof it onto a Benq, but everytime I read it I just get a key with all 00000's. I have read MANY posts, I can get it into vendor mode, everything is fine until I read. I am smart enough to not just write it, but am pulling my hair out since I have spent a lot of money getting setup to do this. The drive had a broken worm drive, that is the only thing I can think of that could cause a problem. It is stock never been flashed, the box it is in did have the RROD. Any ideas? Does the laser have to be in a certain position? I have also had the tray out to get to the worm drive, does it have to be in a certain position? I know there are a ton of you guys a whole heck of a lot smarter than me, so please shower me with your wisdom so i can get onto playing some GOW.

did you get the keys dumped? If the drive locks up, it doesn't show up in JF, then you need to use dosflash to recover.

I had the same thing happen. In the middle of a flash and out of nowhere my computer just froze. So let me guess...your drive will hang the computer everytime you connect it and it won't work in dos either. I have the solution for you. I found this tutorial over at 360mods.net and it worked like a charm! Check out this page :http://www.360mods.net/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2793.

Just a bit of advice though It is super simple to get the drive back and working but to save you some headaches I have a tip or two. First if you follow the tutorial (I used xtreme boot maker 3.6)and when you go to create a bootable usb stick it gives an error first try to retry and if that don't work then just continue (skip it). Second tip is the first time I tried an A-data usb stick and it wouldn't work so then I tried a Kingston Data Traveler 2GB and it worked perfectly. Third tip is when you load up computer make sure your drive is off and right after your bios detects hardware (your hdds or dvd drives)turn on the samsung drive and wait for the command prompt and then do what the tutorial says. Oh, one other thing, in the tutorial it says to make the two folders and name the original firmware orig.bin just make sure when you do it you rename it orig don't put the .bin on it as it wont work. You also don't have to flash the original firmware to the drive as long as you have your CFW.bin so instead of using the name ORIG.BIN use the name CFW.BIN. Hope this helps. Contact me if you need any help and please let me know how it goes!
