Hello I have just joined these forums because i cant seem to find anybody that can help me with my problem. I went throught this installation correctly but im not sure if the guy who made the tutorial was missing any key things. I use this Video off Youtube.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vh-kzk7JaKQ) I just cant seem to play back-up games. everything else seemed to go ok. DVDX works and the homebrew channel works. I just cant load Back-up disk's. How do you know what type of software you need for my wii. cause i have been reading some threads and it looks like they softmodded there wii way differently then me. so what are all these rev something installers. and why is there so many different IOS(35,35, goes on to 200 some.) whats the main difference between IOS.

Im am stuck. I dont know were to go.
I just wanted to play some back-up games.

Thanks I appreciate your help

Is that supposed to be "major"?

Not quite key things, just key thing. These "rev installers" are what you are missing. I was watching the video and I guess he forgot it. Probably not that hard to do since it's probably been a while since he did it. Around 8:45 in the video is where he should have said to go back to Wad Manager and install cIOS.

cIOS is the "rev installers" that you were talking about.
They are made by Waninkoko and there are currently 13 of them, the latest one being cIOS38rev13b. A cIOS is necessary for you to be able to play backups.

If you did everything that he said to do in the video you should download cIOS38rev13 from here http://www.mediafire.com/?gknnzzjtjw3

Extract and put the folder called cIOS38 in the Apps folder on your SD card.

After you do that, put it in your Wii and start the homebrew channel. Go to the installer and select IOS35 to install.

After you have done this the backups should work.

Also there aren't that many IOSes. It only goes up to 61 officially. Those in the 200s are called custom IOS (cIOS). An original IOS (36, 37, or 38) was taken and modified and now it installs to the IOS249 slot.

Check out http://wiibrew.org/wiki/IOS_History
to see the official IOS.

Hmm, that's pretty late to get back from work. And there's barely any time before you have to be back again.

We're likely in different time zones as well because my screen says that you posted that last message at 3:35 AM

As for which Backup Loader, you can stick with Gamma if it isn't giving you any problems or you could try Neogamma which you can get from here http://gbatemp.net/index.php?download=6250

I'd also say read about USB Loader when you get the chance. It's more convenient.

did exactly what you said. It works perfectly. Any good homebrew software that i should get(I just have the emmulators right now) Or is there any good wii games that you would recomend?

Can you play back up disks online.
and whats the easiest way to back up you disk. Is DVD Dumper the easiest and fastest? iff you dont have the right LG drive? or would you suggest a different program? Is it worth buying a a really big usb drive to back up all of your iso's and play off of that. Is it much faster to use dvd dumper and dump iso onto a usb or to dump onto the network.

And whats this bootmii stuff. what does bootmi do. what is the point of it. and do you have to update your firmware every time you get a new game? is there. when you softmod your wii do you need to update to play the latest games. If you can update your wii. do you update it in system settings. or do you use somekind of homebrew.

thanks dude for resoloving my major promlem! lol(after all it wasnt major)

Thanks for taking the time. (On the other forums nobody wanted to take the time to help me)

There is homebrew that is good to me but you might think, what the heck is this garbage?

But off the top of my head this is some of the stuff that I have.

Of course I have the emulators. SNES, Genesis, Gameboy Advanced and NES
I keep most of my ROMs on the SD card but some on the network as well.
Supposedly the N64 emulator Wii64 is supposed to be updated pretty soon. In it's current state it really isn't worth it.

I have FTPii for streaming stuff wirelessly from my computer to my Wii since my Wii is downstairs so I don't have to take the SD card out every time. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Ftpii

MPlayerCE is my primary media player. It plays all sorts of videos but it chokes on stuff that is close to HD. It's background can be customized. Mine is a a short looped video. It plays DVDs with DVDx. It has Radio and Youtube features (although not the best). I also use it to stream media from a folder on my computer.
http://wiibrew.org/wiki/MPlayer_CE

WiiRadio is nice. It plays different Shoutcast stations. Has some generes. Sometimes if I'm reading something I might throw on one of the Ambient or Jazz stations and I'm not disturbed by any words or anything. Anyway I can listen to pretty much anything depending on my mood. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/WiiRadio

Recently got GuitarsOnFire. So far I like it a lot better than GuitarFun. It's like your on Guitar Hero/Rock Band. You can put frets on fire songs to play. And so there's a lot of variety even outside of the more traditional rock genre. There are many video game tunes that are very nostalgic to me and I enjoy playing them. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/GuitarsOnFire

I have WiiEarth and FMyLife. And a bunch of other stuff from the Homebrew Broswer. You do have the Homebrew Browser right? Maybe I should have said that first. I just kind of assume that everyone has the Homebrew Browser.

I have other stuff but it isn't coming to me right now. Anyway definitely get the Homebrew Browser if you don't have it. http://www.codemii.com/download/

You can play backed up games online. Easiest way to backups games is using your Wii and one of the USB Loaders to dump it to a USB device. You can extract the game from your USB device to your PC.

How big of a hard drive you get is really up to you. Depends on how many games you want to put on there. I don't need much space but I hear of people with over 300 games. I certainly don't need all that but I guess people are going to do what they do. (By the way that's one of my biggest things. I don't know if it comes of as irresponsible or too tolerant but if you aren't bothering me go ahead and do what you do, I don't care.)

Honestly I don't have that much experience with DVD Dumper. I've used it before but I am not the best source of information on that. Over the network you will have to go to the IP address listed and download it just like how you download another file. It wasn't as fast as downloading files that I would normally download.

You can read about Bootmii here http://bootmii.org/
Currently it's main point is to backup you nand and be able to restore it in case of a brick. Eventually it is supposed to be a platform for a new generation of homebrew that utilizes the entirety of the Wii. (Not the best way to put that but that's what came to me at that moment. Read the link)

You don't need to update every time you get a new game. There aren't even that many system menus. http://wiibrew.org/wiki/System_Menu

And Backup Loaders and USB Loaders skip updates.

Edit: Wow this post is big. Wasn't expecting it to be that big.
I need to practice restraint and time management.

So could someone explain to me what bootmii is and what it does.

and how do you play ROM's on the Emulators. Do the ROMS have to be in a specific file format? zip file?
