I followed the steps here. However, I got to the flashing part of it, and it gave me an error message. Now my drive no longer ejects, and I can't put it in mode B. Is it bricked? I have the original firmware and key, so I assume I can just get another drive if it is.
If it started flashing and gave an error, it is more than likely bricked.
You can get yourself as BenQ drive and spoof your key to the drive. With BenQ, you don't have to worry about bricking the drive. It supports bad flash recovery.
Could you explain, or is there a link where I can find how to spoof my BenQ as an Hitachi? Just for future reference? Also, if possible, I would still like to use FirmwareToolbox to actually flash the drive, but I'm up for using JungleFlasher to make the firmware. Thanks in advance :)
Load original HitachiFirmware into source.
Load ix1.6 for BenQ into target.
Click "spoof source to target.
Save custom firmware.
Firmware tool box is not able to flash BenQ drives.
Once you have your BenQ, hook it up to your computer and go to the MTKFlash tab. Make sure your drive is detected under drive properties (BenQ = PBDS VAD6038) and click the button BenQ unlock. Should get good flash chip properties (status 0x73). If you have done the spoofing steps above, make sure your custom firmware is loaded in target and click write. Should write bank 0,1,2,3 and verify 0,1,2,3. You can shut the drive off and test it out in your XBOX 360.
