I am an extreme perfectionist.
With that said I am also overly-cautious and would like to have a checklist of things I need and things I need to do.
First off: Figuring out what drive I have. I am almost positive I have a BenQ drive however, I would still like someone to confirm. (once my camera battery charges that is)

Programs that I will need: Jungle flasher, jungle flasher tutorial, imgburn and the benq firmware. Anything else I am missing?
Hardware: I already purchased this so hopefully that was the correct thing to buy. The way I built my PC is a little screwy but it has an open PCI port. Does it matter what motherboard I have? or is that only for a certain type of disc drive?
Anything else I am missing?

You might want to check one other thing with your XBOX 360. The BenQ and the Lite-ON have the exact same tray design. So what you can do is take off the face place. And right under the DVD bezel that says "XBOX 360" there is a small hole. Shine a flash light in there and look at the wires.
White = BenQ
Yellow = Lite-ON
Here is an example of a connectivity kit that can power all drive and have Lite-ON Key extracting capability.

I was having the damndest time trying to see inside the little hole without a flashlight (unable to locate one actually) so I went ahead and started the disassembly process. Now I am having a bit of difficulty removing the plastic casing. I watched some youtube videos and they all say the same thing "use a small flathead screw driver and push in the little holes". Well I am pushing and there is no clicking noise. Other videos are using a plastic tool of some sort but I figured the small flat head would do just fine.
Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Those holes you are pushing in on should be hitting that small tab that is on all the clips. I hope I'm making this understandable.

I managed to pop 3 of them before my arm got tired of prying it open and then they all clamped back together :(
I may end up getting one of those tools after all.
Or maybe go with the aggressive "tear it open" maneuver.

When I'm pushing those tabs in with a small screw driver, I apply pressure at the top of the case where the gray plastics you just took off. I keep my finger wedged between the 2 white plastics to keep the tabs from popping back together.

gahhhh
Am I literally trying to push them down? (take little piece of plastic from the top and push down)
or am I pushing them in? (like BACK into the xbox)

Apparently I had undone the clips enough to where if I just pulled it back a bit it would have come off.
Oh well! At least I got it now.
But of course.. the size Torx I have is incorrect for the smaller black screws. Or do I even need to remove those?

You don't need to take off the small black ones, that will make your motherboard come out!!
You need a torx 10 for the 6 screws to get the other side off.

Since it is a Lite-ON, you are going to need to get a key reader.
Key readers such as the CK3 probe or the Maximus spear work great. If you are going to get the CK3 probe, you will need to purchase the connectivity kit to and use it in conjunction with the probe.
Here is a link to get you started.

In reference to that link you posted from before about the lite-on key extractor.. http://www.modchip.ca/store/product.php?...&cat=284&page=1
Would I need to buy ANYTHING else or would that cover everything? I am assuming it doesn't require any soldering?
Quick little check list:
1. SATA PCI adapter
2. 360 Connectivity Kit V3 Pro CK3 with PPTC protection
3. JungleFlasher
4. Lite-on firmware
5. Blank DVD+R Dual Layer discs
6. I have this disc drive: Lite-On Lh-20A1L will that work to burn games with?

Don't forget the probe that you will need with the CK3. It is the tool needed so you don't have to solder your disc drive anywhere to extract the drive key. It looks like this:

Also I use the jungle flasher tut every time I flash a system even though I know what I am doing. It makes me feel more comfortable and I feel has some of the best step by step directions about flashing. Extremely helpful.

You need to make sure you have a compatible SATA chipset in your computer. Some motherboards are compatible, some are not.
Easy way to tell what chipset you have is the CPU-Z program. You can get it HERE. Download the zip, extract, and run the program. Go to the mainboard tab, and look at the southbridge chipset. Post back here the results.

I've read people have had good luck with ICH9 so I think you should be able to flash the Lite-ON.

YES!
Ok SO now I need to officially order the connectivity kit and the probe. I'm still waiting on the SATA PCI to get here..
Thanks for all your help.
I'm sure there will be many more questions to ask once stuff gets here.
Quick side question: I'm not TOO worried about getting banned but in the case that it DOES happen do I have to call them up and cancel the account? Or do they automatically stop charging me for it?
Because the last time I had to cancel an account I had to go through an entire questionnaire over the phone with some indian guy on why I wanted to cancel the account. Don't really feel like explaining.

What SATA PCI did you order?
With getting banned from playing on XBL with a back-up game, they will ban the console's serial. So that specific console can't access XBL. You can buy a new 360 and transfer your gamertag over to it and continue playing XBL.

I bought this
http://tekgems.com/Products/la-pci22-vt6421a.htm
Please tell me that is the correct thing to get..
What I meant was if I get banned I don't really feel like migrating my account or anything. I would rather it just stay banned and sit on my console and I would just cancel the gold live. But that did answer my question, thanks.

yes they dont actually ban your gamertag they just ban your console. I dont know if they flag the gamertag after like a secret note on their customer files because very little is known how microsoft bans people, BUT if you dont plan on getting a new xbox after you get banned then you should call in and cancel your account...
wait wtf why are we talking about getting banned, it is been relized that if you follow directions and stealth check your games then there is very little chance of getting banned, swim has been on live playing nothing but backups all day and night with no such banning
