Ok so I have tried upgrading, downgrading, every softmod guide out there and I still cant get this thing to play backups. Right now I did the guide to a T on this messageboard. It all went smoothly but when I put in a backup it doesnt work. Neogamma gives me a dvd read error 721 and im not sure why. I am using DVD+R media though, is that a problem?
I am just taking the straight ISO and using imgburn at 2x with booktype set to DVD-ROM is this correct?
1) Start the Homebrew Channel, and select "SoftMii Preinstaller" from the list of programs. Select "Install Me" and press A, then when that finishes, press the Home button to exit. IGNORE "LU64 Fix"! You can also install the USB Loader at this point if you wish
2) Back in the Homebrew Channel, launch cIOS Installer and accept the warning. Choose "Network Install" with the D-Pad, and this will download and install cIOS rev 11.
3) Return to Homebrew Channel and run "SoftMii IOS Downgrader". If some things fail, this is normal, simply run the program again until all of them succeed.
4) Run the Homebrew Channel, and select "cIOSCORP" to install Disc Channel Backup loading. The insatller may freeze for a bit, but it will eventually work.
5) Exit and reboot. You have now installed SoftMii!
I followed the guide and it wall worked fine but now when I put in backups and load up the disc loader (the nintendo one) it just got to a black screen with white writing saying to eject the disc and reset because an error has occured. Do I need to get DVD-R instead of DVD+R?
look GGXena don't start anything i followed the guide fully and it bricked. i was still able to get the preloader to go so i was able to unbrick it. all i know is that this guide worked for me. so just talk to larry or something
Which is what I said, you bricked your own wii while following the guide. The guide warns you that you do everything at your own risk.
The way you worded your first post made it sound as though Larry's guide was at fault when in fact it has helped probably hundreds to succesfully mod their machines.
Larry spoke to me like shit on another thread, so believe me I am no friend of his, but credit where credit is due.
