Okay i opened my xbox 360 for modification of the disc drive. But i hadn't gotten my via chip set thingy in the mail yet,so i was just opening the xbox just to know how to open it for when i actually was gonna mod it. So i unplugged the disc drive (power and sata cable's) then re plugged them back and then put everything back up together and turned on my xbox and in about 1 hour my screen got really white with all these dots all over the place. then today it gave me error e74, all i did was open it and unplug the disc drive. Whats wrong, and how do i fix error e74,thanks in adv.
leerage, is this something that i did or microsofts error. I ripped off the sticker with my hand it messed up but a guy on se7ensins.com said he has sent in 3 xbox's 2 with no stickers and 1 with a messed up and they fixed forhim.
From my experience, the BGA connections in the GPU get weak over time from heating up and cooling down (crappy solder from Microsoft), and just by opening up the case, I caused RRoD or E74. I have had this happen on a couple of consoles that customers wanted me to mod. The consoles were fine before opening, but after flashing and putting back together, they either got RRoD or E74.
