hello i have looked about and have not really found any specifics on the subject but i have read that you need certain chipsets for flashing the 360 drive ive googled for a good hour now and cant find any real information as to why you need said chipset and how it works and which one is needed or if any at all...i have a benq drive and i want to flash it with ixtreme i have a foxconn m7pmx-s mother board motherboard link the link is there....any information as to this chipset business would be appreciated thank you.

Looks like that motherboard has the nForce 630i chipset so it may work. Some nForce work and some don't. The only way to truly know is to try and read the firmware. Unless a 630i user can come along and confirm it for you. There is no harm in attempting to read the firmware.

I would recommend getting Jungle Flasher v0.1.62 up and running on your computer. It requires PortIO to be installed along with .Net framework 2.0 or higher. PortIO is included with JF, just run the .exe.

Thanks alot for the replies...i guess all i have to do now is take two shots of pepto bismol...calm my stomach and nerves.....and just go do it! =) thanks alot for the tutorial! leerage thanks sooo much for the tutorial btw

No problem. :)

Edit- Since you are using the nForce chipset, you won't have to worry about removing the VIA driver. Also, when you read your firmware, make sure you have a good key (not a bunch of 00000s or 777777s). It should be random (0-9 and A-F).

oi thanks alot again for the help..but i fail lol.....i didnt screw anything up other than identifying my drive improperly...the tray looked like a benq..the wires in the front panel matches aswell....atleast to my eyes...but god darn it i open it up..plug in the sata cable...boot up..the drive is picked up in jungle flasher..i try to see if i can get the drive key get bad serial data error...then take a closer look at my drive and realize...its a phillips lite-on...=( sorry for wasting your time buddy...but thanks alot...any chance theres a way to flash the lite-on without soldering anything?

You have to get a probe in order to extract the key. After that point, it is all software.
