im getting a new xbox tomorow does microsoft still ship xbox's with samsung and hitachi drives or just benQ and liteon. and what are the chances of me getting a lite on?
I know you are new, but did you even search before posting? In future search google/afterdawn to see if a similar thread has already been posted.

It depends who you are buying from, is it new or used. Xbox's made after december 08 (give or take) are liteon's, so if you are buying new, then there is 100% chance it will be a liteon. If you wish to check if your 360 has a liteon, eject the tray and compare it with this.
If you have that tray it is either a liteon or benq, to confirm which one, remove the faceplate and there will be a small hole near the drive bezel. Inside is a small, bearly visible wire, if it is a white wire, it is a benq. If it is yellow, it is a liteon.

If you are buying new, out of a store, you are getting a Lite-ON.

Why the hell would you not want a Lite-On? Lite-On drives are the best to have! Quite, fast, stable, not to mention they are the newest drive so you know if you buy a used 360 and it's a Lite-On that it hasn't been through much wear. You can get a Kit and some type of spear or probe to get the Lite-On keys for as low as $30, or make one yourself.
As for the Red RE 360 having a BenQ, I doubt it. The way the light was shinning on it may have made it appear white. Also, there are two different versions of the Lite-On, one has just started popping up and it has different firmware but can still be flashed. Maybe she has the newer Lite-On and they changed a few things.

What is the manufacture date on the console? And just to confirm it is the Resident Evil 5 edition correct?
