Some people have said that the Jungle Flasher tutorial seemed a bit confusing so I am making this tutorial to make it a bit easier to understand!
This image tutorial was created to show you how to read and update a FLASHED Lite-ON with Jungle Flasher.
Things you will need:
Jungle Flasher v0.1.64
iXtreme 1.6 for Lite-ON (REPACK)
Compatible SATA chipset
SATA cable.
PortIO installed (requires 32bit Operating System)
.Net Framework 2.0 or higher
DVD connectivity kit (optional)
Make sure to have iXtreme 1.6 for Lite-ON (REPACK) in the firmware folder that is within the Jungle Flasher folder so you can utilize the autospoof feature! The Lite-ON ix1.6 repack will need to be renamed to ix16-liteon.bin
If your onboard SATA is compatible, you can skip the steps for removing the VIA driver.
In this tutorial I am using a VIA SATA card with the 6421 chipset.
I have removed the VIA driver from C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers folder.
To remove the VIA driver:
1. Disable VIA card in Device Manager.
2. Go to C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers and remove "viamraid.sys" or "vsmraid.sys".
3. Re-Enable VIA card in Device Manager.
4. Re-Boot PC.
First you will want to check a couple of things.
Make sure the VIA driver is not installed by checking in Device Manager. Notice the yellow exclamation mark.

You also need to have PortIO and .Net 2.0 or higher installed. PortIO is included with Jungle Flasher and .Net can be obtained from Microsoft.

Go ahead and power on your Lite-ON drive with your connectivity kit or the XBOX 360.
Start up Jungle Flasher and go to the DVDkey 32 tab. You might have to change the I/O Port to find your Lite-ON.
Once you find it, you should see the properties listed under Drive properties.

Once you have identified your Lite-ON, you will want to do the following:
Eject tray
Power off the drive
Push the tray in half way
Power on the drive

Next you will click "Dummy from iXtreme"

Jungle Flasher will prompt you to save your dummy bin.
Save your dummy bin in a safe location where you won't delete it or lose it.
Make sure Jungle Flasher says it retrieved a good key

Jungle Flasher will ask you to autoload iXtreme firmware. Click YES.

This is the result of the autospoof.
Your DVDkey should be the same from the dummy bin to ix1.6.

Go back over to the MTKFlash tab and you are going to click Lite-ON erase.
It will prompt you once about having a correct DVDkey and then how to power cycle.
Pictured is the power cycle prompt, which is the 2nd and last prompt. Click Yes.

As soon as you click YES, you will power cycle the drive. That means shut it off for 1 second and turn it back on.
You should get good flash chip properties. (pictured is Winbond/NEX, some will have MXIC)

Go ahead and click WRITE.

Once it verifies OK, you can click Outro/ATA Reset and power off the drive.

Go ahead and test this out in your console.

Correct. If you have a flashed Lite-ON, but don't have the dummy bin, you can pull the info this way. I am in the process of creating a Stock Lite-ON tutorial.

Thank you, that would be great. I just found out after hours of looking up info about modding my xbox that I had a Lite-On.
The whole time I thought it was a BenQ. Untill I read a post about the yellow wires, that's when everything changed. LOL

Although Lite-ONs required the additional hardware to get the key, I think they are worth it. They are great drives. Quiet and read back-ups good.

Great tutorial mate i was wondering when you power up your xbox 360 drive (not using a connectivity kit) you dont have to keep the drive half open or anything along those lines. its just that ive been looking at tutorials and the instructor opened the 360 drive half way.

whether or not you use a connectivity kit, or use the 360 itself to power the drive while flashing, it needs to be in the half open position. its just a lot trickier to get it in the half open position when using the 360 to power the console.

Would it make any difference if I just used my computer to power up the dvd drive? i.e. I am connecting the drive to the computer's sata port, might as well connect it to its power connector. Will that work?
How tricky is it to get the drive to stay in the half open position?

The 360 drive has a different type of power connection than what a PC would provide.
As for getting half tray status, simply eject the drive, pull the DVD power cable from the drive, push the tray half way in, and reconnect the power.

1.6.1 repack was rubbish?
What are the known issues with 1.6.1 repack? Is there a list of games that won't work?
I have 1.5.1 right now on my lite-on, I have almost 31 backups, 28 of them work. NFS undercover, Mirror's Edge, and Midnight Club LA don't work well (they start but soon I get "unreadable disc" error). Is that because of 1.5.1 or media? I have created multiple backups and I have verified everyone of them completely using abgx, they all pass everything.

@censored.First of all there is no 1.6.1, its 1.6 LiteOn_iXtreme-THX_v1.6.REPACK. The thing with 1.6 ixtreme is that it has strict stealth pass check and so the games have to 100% stealth check to play the game whereas in case of 1.5.1 it plays all games. If ur not using live and want to play all wave3 games download 1.5.1 but if u using live and have fear of getting banned, 1.6 is highly recommended . Hope that helps
