Which thread specifically?

Was it this one? http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/773505

What was the last thing that you did?

Did you try unplugging to for a while and then turning it back on?

There doesn't sound like there is anything wrong with what you did as long as you didn't uninstall the IOS60. Uninstalling IOS60 is bad.

But maybe you didn't because if you did then you wouldn't even get a message that says that the system files are corrupted.

It depends on you did but the short answer for uninstalling IOS60 is no, it's dead, send it to Nintendo. The only way you would be able to avoid sending it to Nintendo is if you had bootmii installed as boot2 and a backup of your nand. Or if you got your Wii's keys etc with Xyzzy http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Xyzzy with which you would still need a infectus mod chip.

If you had preloader then you could use preloader to launch the homebrew channel and use any region changer, wad manager, or cios installer to fix various problems. Again if you uninstalled IOS60 (the IOS the system menu runs from), none of these would work.

If you didn't uninstall IOS60, you could try the savemefrii which is the free version of the savemii which you can see here http://savemii.net/

For savemiifrii you'll have to take apart a gamecube controller so that you can press all 4 directional pad buttons at the same time while booting the Wii up. The pad has to be plugged into the fourth slot (the one closest to the memory cards). If I remember correctly a wave bird won't work.

For this method you will need to be below firmware 3.4 unless you have a modchip.

So you did have preloader? And you tried to press reset while turning it on to get to the menu?

Edit: Actually now that I think about it again, preloader patches IOS60, if you were to install a wad of IOS60 it would wipe preloader out. So scratch that.

I would try out either savemii or savemiifrii first to know if your system menu is gone or not.

If you system menu is gone, you won't be able to update with a new update whenever it comes out.

If when you try savemii or savemiifrii, your system version is displayed at the bottom of the screen then you will be able to update with a disc with a higher firmware.

Another option (but the system menu will still need to be there) is with an autoboot modchip. An autoboot modchip makes it so that you can boot a prepared disc that will be able to get you back to stuff like any region changer and wad manger. It all depends on whether your system menu has some life in it or not.

You can also take a look at here http://savemii.net/troubleshooting.html

You could try the thing with the gamecube pad but if there is no system menu you won't be able to get to anything so that you can attempt to do anything.

It's like you need to save your pet's life because there is a wall closing in about to crush it. The switch to stop the wall is behind a locked door and you have no way of getting through.

Well not exactly... but I guess the point is that you can't reach the point where you would be able to do any good.

This is as opposed to sometimes when people get a system files are corrupted but they can still get to preloader. Without preloader they wouldn't be able to do anything but because they have preloader they are now in a position where they can get to the homebrew channel and from the homebrew channel they can get to anyregion changer, and from anyregion changer they can reinstall the system menu.

The homebrew channel is still on your Wii, you just can't get to it.

Edit: Also I'm curious. Did you tell them that you hacked the Wii before they told you the price? And if you don't mind, what was the price that they told you?

Along the same discussion. I had somehwta the same problem, althou mine isnt bricked. I did however lose my main (channel) menu. I can gett bootmii and home brew channel up and can boot games from the usb loader, but would like to get my main channel back.

I tried using anyregion but no joy on that.

Again, games can be booted up from hard drive via usb loader, but no main system menu.

Any ideas?

I don't see why Preloader wouldn't boot. Even if you installed IOS60 after installing preloader you should still be able to boot into it.

Your positive your holding down the reset button while turning on the system?

You never installed bootmii?

Preloader boots. I have no prb getting into that or hbc, its just that I cant find or dont have the ole main menu, with the channels n such. Its gone. I cant get into the wii system to make a change in say the internet connection, or if I wanted to delete a channel or what not.
