I have been working on this for 3 weeks now and it gets hung up at the same spot everytime. I've tried the 360 toolbox as well as jungleflasher. I can get the console into mode b by using the slax disc just fine. After rebooting my pc I can access the DVD drive and it is listed in the drop down menu on 360 toolbox, but on the lefthand side of the menu it states "no device found" and this is where it gets stuck everytime. It will not allow me to run a raw dump as it comes up with a fail error everytime. My PCI SATA card has a VT6421A chipset on it and this is supposed to work with the Hitachi. Are there any miracle workers out there?

You might try installing the 5.30c driver for the VIA SATA Card. I have good results with it over WinAPI in Jungle Flasher.

VIA 5.30 SATA RAID Driver

Remove the old driver from C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers folder. The file will either be "viamraid.sys" or "vsmraid.sys". Remove that file and re-boot PC.

Extract driver folder out to desktop. Go into device manager and right click on VIA SATA Card and click update driver software. You will want to browse your computer manually. You will need to choose the location of the driver. There should be a Have Disk option that you will need to click. Click browse and navigate to the folder on your desktop.
C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\VIA_RAID_V530C\drvdisk\i386\NT5
and you will see 1 file which is the .INF. Select that and click OK and it will install the new driver. Re-boot PC and try JF or Firmware Toolbox again.

Here is a walk-through for XP. http://laptopvideo2go.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=33
